DESCRIPTION: EPW - Gabriel, London, gold repoussé verge fusee, 45mm, 18-22K (tested) gold OF cases, outer repoussé case depicting the Judgment of Solomon, inner case bearing London hallmarks with date letter partially lost to rub, casemaker's incuse "R P" marking, signed white enamel dial with arcaded minute chapter, hands set with rose cut diamonds, KWKS (key not included with this lot), verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced and foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge of Continental style, s#114. Gross weight of assembled watch 54.2 dwt (84.3 dwt). Our consignor noted this case depicted the biblical story of the Judgement of Solomon and we concur with this assessment as the case rear depicts a figure handing a child to a woman in the foreground, with another woman to the right in the background, and with a soldier with sheathed sword to the left in the background. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some short scratches and small nicks adjacent pillar areas, some typical fine scratches elsewhere; dial with hl from center to 6, some additional perimeter hls at 6, some scattered scratches; excellent hands, minute missing a diamond from central portion; outer case shows very little wear, few small nicks, no dents, excellent engraving detail, button latch with good function though surface of button is crushed inward; inner case shows light wear, numerous dents and dings to rear and sides; bow pivots freely; domed glass bull's-eye crystal with some scattered scratches and finish imperfections.
